Inspired by the work of Samuel Beckett and Morton Feldman, Please. Please. Again. Again. is a new theater production by director Jim Findlay, composer Ashley Fure, and the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) developed during a residency at Mount Tremper Arts. This work-in-progress marks Findlay’s third project—and ICE’s sixth consecutive season—with MTA.

“Ms. Fure takes the time to build … sophisticated textures that gradually take on profound expressivity.” —New York Times

“Findlay [has] been challenging the conventional audience-performer relationship for years.” —Chris Vitiello, Indy Week

About the Artists
Ashley Fure is an American composer of acoustic and electroacoustic concert music as well as intermedia installation art. Her work explores the kinetic source of sound, bringing focus to the muscular act of music making and the chaotic behaviors of raw acoustic matter. Fure has earned several awards, including a 2016 Grants to Artists award from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts (FCA).

Jim Findlay works across boundaries as a director, designer, visual artist, and performer. His work has been seen at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, BAM, Arena Stage, A.R.T. and over 50 cities worldwide including Berlin, Istanbul, London, Moscow, and Paris. Findlay has received two Obie awards, two Bessie awards, a Lucille Lortel award, and a Henry Hewes award.

With 35 leading instrumentalists performing in forces ranging from solos to large ensembles, the acclaimed International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) is dedicated to reshaping the way music is created and experienced. ICE was most recently named Musical America Worldwide's Ensemble of the Year in 2013.
